Ridgefield’s Medea Rusu wins two titles at 2A/1A district swim meet

McKelvey Brewer of Hudson's Bay and Paige Danglies of Hockinson also win titles

Ridgefield’s Medea Rusu won two titles, and McKelvey Brewer of Hudson’s Bay and Paige Dangleis of Hockinson also won at the 2A/1A district girls swimming championship on Saturday in Shelton.

Rusu won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 18.56 seconds, beating out Danglies, who finished second in 2:20.33. Rusu also won the 100 backstroke in 1:03.56.

Brewer won the 100 butterfly in 1:02.85 and qualified for state in the 500 freestyle with a third-place finish.

Dangleis won the 100 freestyle in 56.56.

Also qualifying for state were Bree Gravel of Columbia River (50 free, 100 free) and Emma Anderson of Kalama (100 butterfly).

Hockinson and Columbia River also advanced to state in the 200 medley and 200 free relays, and River advanced in the 400 free relay.
