The powers at the top of the 2A Greater St. Helens League have once again proven their mettle in the state girls soccer playoffs.

As double-digit seeds playing in the first round Wednesday, No. 12 Ridgefield and No. 16 Hockinson each earned road wins to reach the state quarterfinals, joining fellow 2A GSHL team Columbia River. All three teams advanced to the Class 2A state final four in 2019 and 2021.

Allie Seekins and Abby Dombrow each scored in the first half of Hockinson’s 2-1 win over No. 1 seed Fife, an undefeated 18-0 team entering Wednesday’s game. Hockinson will play host to No. 9 Enumclaw on Saturday.

Ridgefield faced a 1-1 halftime tie against No. 5 East Valley of Yakima before the Spudders scored two unanswered goals in the final 40 minutes to claim a 3-1 win.

Ellie Petersen, Marlee Buffham and Victoria Lasch each scored one goal for the Spudders, who will match up with No. 4 Sehome on Saturday in Bellingham.
