VANCOUVER — The Greater Vancouver Chamber recently announced the 2022 Business & Leadership Awards. Four outstanding business owners and leaders were recognized for their dedication and service to the community this past year. The Start-Up to Watch Award went to Pop-Local. This honor looks at businesses that are up to their first five years and recognizes one that is emblematic of tenacity, vision and strong business practices. Pop-Local started in 2020 as a pop-up store to support businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its Waterfront Vancouver location opened earlier this year to offer a new-age, co-op space to more than 70 small-business owners, creators, artists, florists, winemakers, bakers and more. The Small Business Award recipient was Evergreen Women’s Health. This award celebrates the achievements of companies with a team of fewer than 25 employees that show demonstrable growth and strong business practices. Since opening in 2018 in Vancouver, the owner, Dr. Cynthia McNally, has offered visitors a sage, empathetic environment where comprehensive treatment is provided for patients of all ages. The Large Business Award was given to Vancouver Mall. This honor recognizes a business with more than 25 employees that is growing in market share and sales, creates more jobs for the community, and gives back in a way that helps make the community thrive. Rep. Paul Harris, R-Vancouver, was named the Statesperson of the Year. The Statesperson Award honors an elected official who works collaboratively with all levels of government to represent the interests of business, along with their overall community priorities. Harris’ recognition is based on his continual efforts to work in a bipartisan way to create policy that is beneficial for his district, the county and the state.
