Rembisz edges out Washougal's Liam Atkin for honor

La Center’s Ben Rembisz is The Columbian 2022 Week 6 high school football player of the week.

Rembisz received 399 votes to edge out Washougal’s Liam Atkin, by five votes, for the weekly honor.

The senior helped spark a comeback from a 25-0 deficit by helping the Wildcats recover two onside kicks and kicked two field goals, including the 26-yard game winner in a 26-25 win over Mount Baker.

Winners of the player-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no player may be nominated in consecutive weeks. Five more nominees and the new ballot posts every Monday.

Here is what the other nominees did last week:

ELIJAH ANDERSEN, WOODLAND: The sophomore rushed for 195 yards on carries and scored four touchdowns in a 52-21 win over R.A. Long.

LIAM ATKIN, WASHOUGAL: The senior rushed for 132 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns and caught three passes for 85 yards and another score in a 40-6 win over Hudson’s Bay.

MITCH JOHNSON, MOUNTAIN VIEW: The senior passed for 214 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 93 yards on 15 carries and another TD in a 37-27 win over Prairie.

REID TENNANT, CAMAS: The junior rushed for 175 yards on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Evergreen.
