Letter: Blame OPEC for gas prices

By Michael Dailey, Vancouver

The Oct. 6 issue of The Columbian had a pagewide headline that read “OPEC+ cutting oil to support prices.” The Associated Press article that followed explained the cut was to “support sagging oil prices” and “could deal the struggling global economy another blow and raise politically sensitive pump prices.” So there is no question that the coming inflationary pump price increase was deliberately and intentionally caused by OPEC, nor is there a question that it will occur worldwide.

Still, I’m fairly certain that, in spite of this information, the Republicans are going to place the blame for the increase on President Joe Biden. What I don’t understand is how they can do that without looking stupid.
