Fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns by Evergreen’s Shaudez Grant and Mark Williams Jr., stopped Hockinson’s momentum from the third quarter as the Plainsmen prevailed 25-22 on Friday at Hockinson.

Evergreen (2-0) led 22-7 at the half, but the Hawks (1-1) came alive in the third quarter, scoring twice within the opening 3 minutes to tie the game at 22-22.

Enzo Oliverio scored on a 50-yard pass play from Jarod Oldham, and an onside kick recovery followed with Tristan Maldonado scoring on an 8-yard pass from Oldham to knot things up.

Evergreen recovered in the fourth quarter with its two TDs to pull away.

Senior receiver Jonathan Landry, who caught eight passes for a team-high with 78 yards and a score, said adjusting to the Hawks’ offensive outburst, was all about keeping the intensity.

“This year we’ve told each other to keep the intensity up no matter what and it ended up getting us back in and getting us the win,” he said.

The Plainsmen showed just how much depth and talent they had on offensive as five different players found the end zone.

Junior quarterback Jayden Crace had 123 yards passing and contributed for three of the five scores.

Oldham was 22 of 44 for 288 passing yards and the two Hockinson TDs. He also rushed 11 times for 37 yards and a touchdown.

Oliverio caught six passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.
