Evergreen volleyball player Jocie Snyder is The Columbian 2022-23 Week 1 high school athlete of the week.
Snyder beat out Anna Mooney of Seton Catholic girls soccer for the honor, earning 380 votes.
Snyder had 34 digs and three aces in a five-set win over Mountain View and 21 digs in a three-set win over Battle Ground.
Nominees are posted every Tuesday, with voting continuing through Thursday.

SAMUEL GRICE, WASHOUGAL BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Grice won the 4A-1A race in the Ultimook Race then was the overall winner at the Steve Maas Run-A-Ree at Hudson’s Bay.
GRADY MILLAR, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS GOLF: Millar shot a 2-over 36 in a match at Fairway Village and a 3-under 33 in match at Camas Meadows.
ANNA MOONEY, SETON CATHOLIC GIRLS SOCCER: Mooney scored eight goals and one assist in two wins last week for the Cougars.
LUCAS WALBURN, COLUMBIA RIVER BOYS TENNIS: In his high school debut, the freshman won two matches at No. 1 singles, including a 7-6, 6-7, 10-6 battle against Aaron Boggess of W.F. West.
