Prep highlights: Dominating wins in cross country

Freshman Lyla Taylor of Hockinson and senior Micah Minor of R.A. Long ran away from the competition in a three-way meet Wednesday at Hockinson Meadows Park.

Taylor was fastest among the girls on the 5,000-meter course, coming in with a time of 20 minutes 26 seconds to win by 36 seconds.

Miner posted a nine-second victory in the boys race with a time of 17:26.

Stars of the day

  • Adam Williams, Hudson’s Bay boys cross country, won the 5,000-meter race at Woodland with a time of 16:58.74.
  • Molly Malone, Fort Vancouver girls cross country, won with a time of 20:58.71 over 5,000 meters at Woodland.
  • Jay Nickerson, R.A. Long boys golf, shot a 3-under-par 34 at Tri-Mountain for medalist honors against Ridgefield.
  • Adrianne Agbayani, Evergreen girls soccer, scored two goals and assisted on another as the Plainsmen beat Heritage 4-0.
  • Dea Covarrubias, Skyview girls soccer, had a goal and assist as the Storm beat Prairie 2-1.
