Letter: Support downtown arts center

By Norm Krasne, VANCOUVER

The editorial in Tuesday’s newspaper speaks volumes about the importance of the arts to this community (“Lively arts community enhances Clark County,” In Our View, Aug. 1).

This coming weekend, three concerts by our wonderful Vancouver Symphony, under the batons of Maestros Salvador Brotons and Gerard Schwartz, will feature two of the world’s greatest musicians: violinist Anne Akiko Meyers and pianist Orli Shaham.

With all the fabulous development along our waterfront and downtown there is a great need here for a Vancouver Arts Center. The late state representative, Val Ogden, who first worked to encourage the building of such a venue nearly 20 years ago, will smile down from Heaven when it’s finally built.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
