Barrett Business Services Inc. reports increasing revenues in statement

By , Columbian staff writer

In its latest quarterly earnings statement, business management company Barrett Business Services Inc. reported $264.6 million in revenues, up 1 percent from the same quarter a year ago. The Vancouver-based company also saw its gross billings increase 5 percent to $1.91 billion. The statement also reported a net income of $17 million, compared with $18 million in the same quarter a year ago.

The company has seen some slower hiring among some clients, who are remaining cautious. But Gary Kramer, president and CEO of BBSI, said the company’s positive results have offset this. Kramer said the company’s profitability has exceeded its internal expectations.

The company’s stock, which is traded on the Nasdaq as BBSI, closed Friday at $93.23 per share. That’s down from its closing of $92.49 per share on Thursday.
