LANDOVER-SHARMEL — The Cascade Park and Fort Vancouver Kiwanis Clubs treated some kids from Burton Elementary Boys and Girls Club to an evening of baseball with the Ridgefield Raptors. Members of the two clubs joined Danae and Josh from BGC to make sure the kids had good seats, tasty snacks and perfect weather. Several of the children had never been to a baseball game and enjoyed watching the action, meeting the Raptors mascot and cheering the team to victory over the Walla Walla Sweets.

Kiwanis is dedicated to serving the children of the world and regularly partners with Boys and Girls Clubs to provide experiences that help kids grow and thrive. Clark County clubs raised $470 for BGC programs through a chili cook-off. Fort Vancouver Kiwanians have participated in reading nights at area clubhouses and purchased portable keyboards for the Teen Turf Club’s music program. Cascade Park Kiwanis recently purchased a hydroponic lettuce farm stand for the Heights BGC, using a grant from Kiwanis International. Anyone interested in participating in youth-focused service projects should consider joining one of the six Kiwanis clubs in the Clark County area.
