I-90 reopens after spun-out vehicles prompt Snoqualmie Pass closure

SEATTLE — State transportation officials closed Snoqualmie Pass late Thursday afternoon as they worked to clear vehicles that spun out in the snow, blocking lanes on Interstate 90.

Westbound I-90 at milepost 71 near Easton reopened just before 7 p.m. after a nearly two-hour closure. About 20 minutes later, officials reopened the highway to eastbound traffic, which had been closed at milepost 47, just west of the summit.

“Come on folks you can do better than this!” the Washington State Department of Transportation had said on the social media platform X. The spinouts were caused by drivers “not obeying the traction tires requirement,” the post says.
