Two people were arrested and a third remains outstanding after a police chase early Monday morning on state Highway 503 in Orchards.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies spotted a red Toyota Camry driving recklessly at 4:09 a.m. near the 9500 block of Northeast 117th Avenue. Deputies tried to stop the Toyota, but it sped away from them, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

A records search showed the car had been reported stolen in a robbery in Portland the day prior, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies pursued the Toyota, which drove north on Highway 503 before making a U-turn at Northeast 179th Street. Deputies continued to chase the car, which was traveling over 100 mph, south on the highway. Deputies deployed Stop Sticks, tire deflation devices, twice before the Toyota came to a stop at the intersection of Northeast 117th Avenue and 76th Street, the news release states.

Three people ran from the car into the Fred Meyer parking lot. Deputies arrested two of the people on the east side of the store, near the loading bays. The sheriff’s office said deputies used Tasers on the two suspects, who were treated by medical personnel at the scene.

Deputies did not find the third person; a witness reportedly saw the suspect clinging to the side of a semitruck that was leaving the area, the news release states.

Investigators saw a loaded firearm and ammunition inside the Toyota. They impounded the car, and the sheriff’s office’s Tactical Detective Unit is continuing to investigate.

No one was injured, according to the sheriff’s office.
