The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office identified a 30-year-old man as the person whose burning body was found Wednesday morning on a sidewalk in downtown Vancouver.

The medical examiner’s office identified the man as Demetrius Williams Coles, unknown city of residence. His cause and manner of death are still pending, according to a Thursday news release.

Vancouver police responded at 3:23 a.m. to West Ninth and Columbia streets for a report of a body on the sidewalk on fire, according to police spokeswoman Kim Kapp. Arriving officers found Coles dead with his upper torso on fire.

Kapp said Wednesday there is no indication of foul play at this time, and Coles’ death is being investigated as an accident.
