Letter: Enforce traffic, noise laws

By Peter Ekstrom, Vancouver
Published: July 26, 2023, 6:00am

Cheers to Richard Gill (“Keep the peace by quieting cars,” Our Readers’ Views, July 7). It is a critical issue to we who live in east Vancouver near McGillivray Boulevard, which is a raceway, day and night.

The drivers of cars and trucks with modified exhaust know there will be no police interference or interest. Street racing in Portland has evolved into street closure with guns fired in the air, and it should be expected that it will follow here. With no police or city council interest, residents will have to look to outside organizations for results. We have begun to come together for a solution, and urge all our neighbors to make their outrage known.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
