Clark County Jail Services is holding a testing event followed by an informational open house for those interested in a career as a corrections officer.

The testing event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 24 at the Jail Work Center Facility, 5197 N.W. Lower River Road in Vancouver.

Testing consists of a written exam and a physical ability test. The test is required for individuals interested in entering a career as a corrections officer. Candidates who successfully complete the testing are eligible to move on to the next phase of being considered for employment, which includes a comprehensive background check.

Those attending should wear athletic clothing and bring a bottle of water. Lockers will not be available, and electronic devices will be required to be turned off.

The hourly pay range for corrections officers is $30.35 to $40.74. The county also offers sign-on bonuses of $10,000 for entry-level new hires and $25,000 for new hires with prior experience.

The open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. June 27 in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver. Space is limited, and registration is required. Email DLCntyJailServicesRecruiting@clark.wa.gov to register.

During the open house, staff will discuss preparing for testing, training for the physical ability test, completing the background information, preparing for the final selection interview, what to expect on post-offer exams, and the academy and training process.

Staff will wrap up the event with an open question forum.
