Five people and a dog were displaced by an early Wednesday morning garage fire in east Vancouver.

The Vancouver Fire Department responded at 1:04 a.m. to reports of a house fire at 16400 N.E. 12th St.

Crews arrived to a two-story house with a fire in the attached garage. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes. The fire did not extend into the house, according to a fire department news release.

AMR personnel assessed one person on the scene and released them. The Red Cross responded to help the residents and their dog who were displaced, the fire department said.

Four engines, one ladder truck and two battalion chiefs responded for a total of 20 personnel.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
