The League of Women Voters of Clark County has selected new officers and a board of directors for 2023-24.

Sharon Brown will serve as president with past president Nancy Halvorson filling the role of vice president. Marlene Niemeier is treasurer and the secretary position is vacant. Several board members elected to two-year terms: Linn Altenheim, Cindy Maltsberger, Sara Bennett and Ellie Hutton. Appointed to one-year terms were Judy Hudson, Bill Whipple, Janet Hedgepath and Liz Backstrom. Continuing directors are Meg McNicholas and Jo Waddell.

One of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations, the league seeks to empower voters and defend democracy. In Clark County, it is known for hosting candidate forums, conducting voter education, prompting civic engagement and observing the processing of ballots at the Elections Office. Members also attend the meetings of local elected officials and report back on their decisions.

International Cultural Exchange Services recently appointed Megan Connell as a new local coordinator.

Connell will work with international high school students and the local schools and families that host them, and is currently looking for families that would like to host students for the 2023-24 school year.
