CATHLAMET — The town of Cathlamet is celebrating the new addition of a public electric vehicle station — one they say is the fastest EV charger on State Route 4, from Longview to the coast.

Cathlamet Mayor David Olson is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony 11 a.m. Monday for the town’s new level-three EV charging station at the corner of Main and Butler streets, according to a press release.

“We are particularly gratified to be the first community along SR 4 to make a high-power EV charger publicly available,” Olson said in the press release.

The unit is capable of fully charging most electric vehicles in 45 minutes or less. A Washington state Department of Commerce grant paid for the station, the release states.
