King’s Way Christian stopped a two-point conversion play with nine seconds to play to notch its first win of the season with a 7-6 win over Columbia-White Salmon.
In a defensive battle, King’s Way took its opening possession of the second half and drove for a score with Sam Somarakis scoring on a 3-yard run.
That 7-0 led stood until Wongani Schlegel scored on a 1-yard run with nine seconds to play, cutting the margin to 7-6. Columbia-White Salmon opted to go for two and the win.
On the conversion play, Landon Castilla jumped over the initial surge, but was stood up before he could cross the goal line.
