Lizzy Andrew of Ridgefield is The Columbian 2023-24 Week 5 prep athlete of the week

Voting continues through 7 p.m. Thursday

Lizzy Andrew of Ridgefield volleyball is The Columbian 2023-24 Week 5 high school athlete of the week.

Andrew received 2,385 of the 4,437 votes cast this week to win the honor.

The senior averaged 15 kills, four digs, eight aces and two blocks in two league wins.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Tuesday and runs through Thursday.

Here are the accomplishments of the other nominees:

MADISON JOHNSON, SKYVIEW SLOWPITCH SOFTBALL: Johnson went 5 for 8 with two doubles, two home runs and three RBI in two wins.

JACOB MCMANUS, COLUMBIA RIVER CROSS COUNTRY: The junior placed 10th the elite division race at the Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational with a time of 15:33.

TANNER MOODY, HERITAGE BOYS GOLF: Moody shot a 1-over par 37 in a match with Battle Ground at Heron Lakes’ Great Blue course.

MADISEN NEWBURY, LA CENTER SOCCER: Newbury tallied six goals and one assist in two league wins.
