RIDGEFIELD — The Ridgefield School District Board of Directors selected Jake Bredstrand to fill the vacant District 5 director position. The position was previously held by Zenia Breghurst, who resigned last month.

The appointment will last through November; Bredstrand — who was officially sworn in Tuesday — is also running unopposed to retain the position on a full-time basis in the upcoming Nov. 7 election.

Bredstrand lives in Ridgefield and works as lead enterprise account manager for Culture Amp, an employee experience tech company. Previously, he served on the city of Ridgefield’s Parks Board and Budget Advisory Committee.

“My personal leadership experience and time serving in various board capacities has me well-prepared for this opportunity,” Bredstrand said in a Wednesday news release. “I especially hope to be a voice for the younger families who are settling into Ridgefield and sending their kids to school for the first time. It is an honor to join the Ridgefield School District as a director, and I look forward to actively representing my constituents.”
