VANCOUVER — The city of Vancouver’s Office of Communications is the winner of two 2023 Savvy Awards from the national City-County Communications and Marketing Association, or 3CMA.

Both first-place honors — tied to communications projects developed to increase awareness of the city’s ongoing efforts to address the need for more affordable housing and to help prevent homelessness — were awarded in the following categories: Social Media/Best Campaign Use — “Humans of Affordable Housing,” and Communications and/or Marketing Plans — “Building a Case for Affordable Housing.”

In February, Vancouver voters renewed the city’s Affordable Housing Fund by passing Proposition 3. It will provide $100 million in funding through 2033 and is projected to assist 2,500 households with rent assistance and housing services, help 150 households with homeownership, preserve or construct 2,400 affordable units and support 550 shelter beds over the life of the levy.

The Savvy Awards recognize outstanding local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing and citizen-government relationships. 3CMA announced the 2023 winners on Sept. 7 at its annual conference in Orlando, Fla. More than 875 entries in 38 categories were received.
