HOCKINSON — Holden Bea rushed for four touchdowns and threw for three more as Washougal sewed up a spot in next week’s crossover matchups with the 2A Evergreen Conference with a 63-21 win over Hockinson on Friday.

With the win, Washougal finished the regular season in a three-way tie with Ridgefield and Hudson’s Bay. All three finished with 5-2 league records. A tiebreaker contest will be held Monday at Columbia River to establish the second, third and fourth seeds from the 2A Greater St. Helens League.

Hockinson (3-4 in league play) matched the Panthers score for score in the first half. After Carter Cameron’s 27-yard touchdown catch from wide receiver Gage Prepula tied the game at 21, Washougal scored the game’s next 42 points to turn a close game into a blowout.

Hockinson had a chance to pull to within seven points early in the third quarter when it recovered an onside kick to start the second half. But the Hawks turned the ball over on downs at the two-yard line, and Washougal put together a 10-play, 98-yard scoring drive to put the game out of reach.

Bea accounted for 426 yards from scrimmage (328 yards passing, 98 yards rushing) on the evening. Will Cooper led all rushers with 104 yards as the Panther offense put up 595 yards of total offense. Elijah Franco added two interceptions for Washougal.

Hockinson finished the season with a 3-4 league record. Aiden Stenersen passed for 180 yards for the Hawks and Carter Cameron added 178 yards receiving and two touchdowns before he left the game with a shoulder injury. The future looks bright for Hockinson as it only loses 11 seniors from this year’s team.
