Letter: Selective memory about Trump

Are we all as selective in our memories as Carrie Ross is (“No morals at all on the left,” Our Readers’ Views, Oct. 18)?

She states her three reasons for supporting Donald Trump: He supports our allies, supports America, and is not a politician. If he supports our allies, why is he against supporting Ukraine? Why does he praise the dictator of North Korea, a country that repeatedly threatens the U.S. and our allies with missiles and nuclear war? If he supports America why does he cozy up to Putin? In Helsinki in 2016, Trump stood next to Putin declaring he believed Putin over our entire United States intelligence community regarding Russia’s interference in our 2016 election. That’s the talk of a traitor. I agree he’s not a politician; I’d prefer a politician over a grifter. Even his own daughter distanced herself when his legal problems started.

Ross references riots in this country, apparently meaning those after George Floyd’s death, saying “If Trump fans were as crazy and backwards and hateful as the left claim …” Apparently she forgot Charlottesville and Jan. 6, when his fans tried to destroy our Capitol and our democracy.
