ROSE VILLAGE — Ten Fort Vancouver Lions Club members congregated on the playground of Washington Elementary school on Aug. 24 to participate in the annual Back to School Night to help welcome back the over 300 returning students.

The late summer heat didn’t stop club President Terry Robertson and Phyllis Robertson, Dave and Georgi Jackson, David and Penny Rich, John Lyons and their newest member Jan Koenig from passing out Washington Elementary T-shirts, frozen pops and a variety of chips to those waiting in the sun ready to see their teachers and new classroom. The freedom of summer was almost over, but the kids seemed ready to return and start learning again. The school staff were very appreciative of the club involvement.
