Cohen Butler of Camas is The Columbian Week 2 high school athlete of the week

Camas cross country runner Cohen Butler is the The Columbian 2023-24 Week 2 high school athlete of the week.

Butler received 1,348 of the 3,707 cast last week to win the honor.

The sophomore won the Silver Division race at the Fort Steilacoom Invitational in 16:27.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Tuesday and runs through Thursday.

Here are the accomplishments of the other nominees:

ADDI STADING, WOODLAND GIRLS SOCCER: The junior had four goals and two assists in two league wins for the Beavers.

BELLA STOKES, BATTLE GROUND SWIMMING: The junior was the top point-scorer in the Sprint Pentathlon, winning the 25 breaststroke and placed second in two other events.

JORDIS TAYLOR, HERITAGE VOLLEYBALL: The junior had 38 kills, 15 assists, four blocks and four aces in two wins for the Timberwolves.

MIA YANEZ, COLUMBIA RIVER SLOWPITCH SOFTBALL: The senior went 8 for 12 with two doubles and three RBI in three wins for the Rapids.
