Bauman received 1,254 votes to win honor

Rafael Bauman of Hudson’s Bay is the The Columbian 2023 Week 4 high school football player of the week.

Bauman received 1,254 of the 3,009 votes cast this week to win the honor.

The senior rushed for 72 yards and one touchdown and had a game-winning 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a win over Ridgefield.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday.

Here are the accomplishments of the other nominees:

HOLDEN BEA, WASHOUGAL: The senior completed 11 of 14 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns and ran for two scores in a win over Mark Morris.

HOUSTON COYLE, LA CENTER: The junior passed for 149 yards and one TD, rushed for three TDs, returned a kickoff for a score and had an interception in a win at Connell.

ETHAN LONG, COLUMBIA RIVER: The senior completed 12 of 17 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Woodland.

TRENTON SWANSON, CAMAS: The senior caught nine passes for 156 yards and one touchdown in a win over Kelso.
