VANCOUVER — No-kill cat rescue organization Furry Friends raised $34,000 during its annual spring auction. The “It’s Meow or Never” fundraiser was held online March 20-24.

“We are so grateful for the generosity of our friends and donors,” said Diane Stevens, marketing director.

Proceeds will offset expenses to spay and neuter cats. Furry Friends plans to spend at least $50,000 in 2024 for the spay/neuter surgeries, a fraction of its vet bills totaling $160,000.

Founded in 1999, the volunteer organization rescues and adopts out homeless, relinquished and abused cats, sheltering them for as long as it takes to find them forever homes. Up to 800 cats are rescued each year.
