Letter: Thanks for lighthearted reporting

Ever since I took a civics class in high school, I’ve subscribed to a newspaper, knowing that it provided honest reporting which is so vital to an informed public. But some days, it gets hard to read. And so I discovered Monika Spykerman’s columns under “Lifestyle.” She is, like me, a lazy cook and tries shortcuts that often, like me, are disastrous. I full-heartedly recommend readers of The Columbian to take a break from news and editorials to enjoy a bit of lighthearted reading. Politics and disaster await us: but by taking a few moments to give our brains a dopamine boost by reading something so lighthearted and cheerful can make everyone’s day a brighter and happier one.

Thank you, Monika Spykerman, for making my world a little bit happier every day as I read your adventures in the kitchen.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
