Local mentors receive Scouting’s highest volunteer award

VANCOUVER – The Cascade Pacific Council of Scouting America presented two volunteers with the Silver Beaver award at an Aug. 10 special recognition ceremony.

Henry Hohn of the Spirit Lake District has served in many leader roles such as a cubmaster, assistant scoutmaster, eagle coach, equipment coordinator for Vancouver’s Troop 554, and is currently scoutmaster for Troop 5554. Henry has logged more than 150 hours of service at Camp Meriwether with many projects.

Doug Myers, also of the Spirit Lake District, has served the Clark County Medical Association, Washington State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, along with being charter organization representative for Troop 358. Doug is also a vigil member in the Order of the Arrow Wauna La Mon’tay Lodge, where he has served as a medic for Induction weekends, events and Arrowcorps.
