One lot of Busseto charcuterie samplers that went to Sam’s Club distribution centers in eight states has been recalled after one of the states found salmonella.
The USDA’s recall notice says Minnesota’s Department of Agriculture turned up salmonella in a sample from Busseto Foods Charcuterie Sampler with Prosciutto, Sweet Sopressata, and Dry Coppa. So, lot No. L075330300 of the twin 9-ounce packs with a best by date of April 27, 2024, got yanked.
Distribution centers for Walmart’s big box version receiving the meat product were in Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Oklahoma.
Salmonella brings high fever, vomiting and days-long diarrhea that’s sometimes bloody to 1.35 million Americans each year, according to the CDC. It usually hangs around for several days. About 26,500 Americans wind up hospitalized annually by salmonella. About 420 people die from salmonella each year, most of them over 65 years old or 4 and under. People with compromised immune systems are also at greater risk of death from salmonella.
