Pedestal sinks are out and cabinets and vanities are in. At least if one is looking for additional bathroom storage. Pedestal sinks have a place in small bathrooms but in larger spaces, vanities and cabinets can provide much needed counter, drawer and storage space.

When considering bathroom cabinetry and vanities, here are some top tips to keep in mind.

Do’s

  • Do select cabinetry made of solid construction.
  • Do consider the cabinetry interior as far as configuration in determining the best choices based on desired function and need.
  • Do keep in mind that cabinetry will get wet from time to time.
  • Do consider cabinetry alternatives to wood.
  • Do focus on color when considering the ideal vanity or cabinetry.

Don’ts

  • Don’t forget to measure your space prior to ordering a vanity or new cabinetry.
  • Don’t overlook the possibility of using professional services such as a bathroom specialist or showroom.
  • Don’t mix too many different materials and colors in a small space.
  • Don’t use materials that could warp or become damaged in high moisture.
  • Don’t ignore the opportunity to incorporate custom cabinetry by utilizing the skills of an artisan or millworker.
