Friendship in the cards: Camaraderie, low-stakes games hallmark of longtime Washougal monthly poker group

WASHOUGAL — Meaningful money? Not really.

Political talk? Never, ever.

Cigars? OK, but only outside on the deck during a break in the game.

Out there, amid those masculine fumes, Bob Haley unabashedly blurted, “I love you guys!”

Which drew laughs — but also sincere nods from his buddies.

After 50-plus years, these guys seem to have perfected the art of friendship over plastic chips and playing cards.
