Letter: Republicans undermine democracy

By Marjorie Millner, VANCOUVER

A recent letter (“Democrats undermine democracy,” Our Readers’ Views, March 15) cited a recent lawsuit in Colorado to remove Donald Trump from the primary ballot as the prime example of how Democrats are a threat to democracy.

But it was not Democrats who filed that lawsuit. It was four Republicans and two Independent voters who brought that lawsuit. If this reality changes the mind of that letter’s author, so that he recognizes that it is the Republican Party that is undermining democracy, I would not disagree, although for different reasons.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
