WOODLAND — On three separate golf courses over three seasons against different competition, one thing has remained constant — Camas’ Jacinda Lee is the Class 4A district girls golf tournament champion.

The Camas senior completed a three-peat as district medalist on Tuesday at Lewis River Golf Course by shooting a 1-over 73, dropping one stroke from Monday’s first round 74, to win the tournament by 16 strokes.

Lee and the Papermakers also captured the district team title by taking each of the top four spots on the individual leaderboard. Behind Lee’s 3-over 147, Rachel Rerick was second at 163, Jasmine Chen finished third at 167 and Morgan Schlesinger took fourth with 188.

“Especially because I’m a senior this year, it really means a lot,” Lee said. “Just being able to be with this team for four years and have their support and encouragement, it’s just a great way to end my senior year.”

Lee went out with a 1-under 34 on the front nine that included three birdies, which matched Monday’s effort and gave the senior some additional momentum going into the final nine holes. Lee also saw a marked improvement in her putting between Monday and Tuesday.

“It’s always on the front nine, I had three birdies yesterday and today, so I feel like that’s where I was able to take advantage of it (and) make some birdies.”

The run continued on the par-3 11th hole when Lee chipped in for another birdie from just outside the green.

“I wasn’t expecting it, but it’s always great,” Lee said with a laugh. “I haven’t had one in a while.”

Battle Ground’s Ava Robertson rounded out the top five with a two-day score of 196 to qualify for next week’s 4A bi-district tournament. In addition to Camas, which finished with a combined 665, Union (897) finished second in the team tally to qualify for bi-districts.

Similar to Lee, Prairie senior Maddy Moore started with a strong stretch on the front nine with a 6-over 41 and ultimately shot 90 for the round to card 177 across two days. Moore won the tournament by 27 strokes to earn her first district title after finishing third last spring.

“I feel really good, I feel like I worked really hard for it and it just makes me excited for the next couple years to come,” said Moore, who’s set to play college golf at Corban University.

The proudest moment of the week was Monday’s 84, which marked a career-low round for Moore, in adverse weather conditions, no less. The result came just two weeks after she set a previous career low of 85 during a round at Portland’s Glendoveer Golf Course, according to Prairie coach BJ Swearer.

“Honestly, I kind of surprised myself,” Moore said. “I didn’t know I had that in me this early on, I feel like it would take a little bit longer, but I’m super proud of myself. I think my confidence has gone even higher after that.”

Behind Moore and second-place finisher Lucia Hill (204), Prairie (922) earned the 3A team title and a berth in next week’s 3A bi-district tournament.

Mountain View’s Camryn Perry (210) and Josie Kuffner (233) finished third and fourth, respectively, to lead the Thunder to a second-place finish to also qualify. Heritage’s Lydia Schwenker (242) finished fifth and earned a spot at bi-districts as an individual.
