Spokane-based Washington Trust Bank is opening its first financial center in Southwest Washington, the bank said Thursday.

The branch, which will employ 12 people, is expected to open later this year at 1400 Washington St., Suite 200, Vancouver. It will offer commercial, small business, mortgage, private and retail banking and wealth management services.

Washington Trust Bank first moved into the Portland market in 2005.

It boasts Oregon deposits totaling nearly $400 million, and nearly $425 million in assets under management within its trust and wealth management groups.

Washington Trust Bank is the largest independently owned, full-service commercial bank in the Northwest. The bank, which opened in 1902, is a wholly owned subsidiary of W.T.B. Financial Corp. and has assets exceeding $11 billion.

Washington Trust has more than 40 branches and offices employing 1,000 people in the Pacific Northwest, including Idaho.

Washington Trust Bank isn’t the first financial institution from Eastern Washington that has made inroads in Clark County. Spokane-based Sterling Savings acquired locally owned First Independent Bank in 2011, before it was purchased by Umpqua Holdings Corp. in 2014. HAPO Community Credit Union, headquartered in Richland, opened here in 2017.
