Prep highlights: Washougal boys golf wins host tournament

Mason Acker shot even-par 70 to capture medalist honors and lead host Washougal to the team championship at the Washougal Regional Invite at Orchard Hills Golf Club on Monday.

Acker finished one shot better than Broden Toney of Mark Morris.

Washougal won the team title in the eight-team tournament with a score of 306. That was 12 shots better than runner-up Mark Morris.

Trenton Maddox of Washougal finished third with 73. Teammate Jude Maddox tied for fourth by shooting 76.

Stars of the day

  • Bailey Gleich, Union slowpitch softball, went 2 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in an 8-4 win over Mark Morris.
  • Avery Mackin, Kelso slowpitch softball, went 4 for 4 with a home run, three doubles, five RBI and four runs in a 26-6 win over Battle Ground/Washougal.
  • Emma Messing and Ellie Leach, Heritage/Hudson’s Bay slowpitch softball, both played a key role in the 9-7 comeback win over Fort Vancouver. Messing was 3 for 3 with two RBI and knocked in the game-tying run in the fifth inning, and Leach was 2 for 2 with two RBI including a single that scored Messing with the go-ahead run.
  • Marin Martin, Chloe Shove and Brooke Beatty, Evergreen slowpitch softball. The trio were a combined 15-for-15 with nine RBI in a 23-9 win over Mountain View. Martin hit two doubles, Shove hit a double and home run, and Beatty hit four doubles.
  • Annabella Sauvageau, Mountain View slowpitch softball, was 3 for 3 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in the loss to Evergreen.
  • Garrett Kock, Columbia-White Salmon boys golf, was medalist with a 4-over 39 at Lewis River in a team loss to La Center.
  • Jules Staley, Prairie girls soccer, scored a goal and also had an assist in a 4-2 win over Evergreen.
  • Paige Hanes, Ridgefield volleyball, had a team-high 15 kills as the Spudders beat Washougal in three sets.
  • Karsyn Ross, Kelso girls soccer, scored two goals and had an assist in the Hilanders’ 6-0 win over Heritage.
  • Jordis Taylor, Heritage volleyball, had 15 kills to help the Timberwolves beat Mountain View 3-0 in the 3A GSHL opener.
  • Sydney Dreaves, Columbia River volleyball, had a double-double of 17 kills and 17 digs in a 3-0 River sweep of Hockinson.
  • Ava Krieger, Unoin girls soccer, had two goals and one assist in a 4-4 draw against Mountain View.
  • Kailey Humphrey, Hockinson girls soccer, scored two goals in a 3-1 win over Mark Morris.
  • Teaghan Irvin, Mountain View girls soccer, had two goals and two assists in a 4-4 draw with Union.
