Clark County Public Health lifts Vancouver Lake algae advisory

Clark County Public Health on Friday lifted an algae advisory for Vancouver Lake in place since Aug. 22. Water samples collected from the lake showed water quality improved over the past two weeks and toxin levels are no longer elevated.

While warning signs posted at the lake were removed, the continued presence of algae blooms means toxin levels could increase as lake conditions change.

Public Health reminds those swimming or recreating in the lake to watch for floating scum and avoid direct contact with water in those areas. Pets should also not drink or have contact with water in areas of floating scum.

The warning advisory for Lacamas Lake remains in place. Results from water samples taken from Lacamas Lake on Sept. 3 indicate toxin levels remain elevated.

Public Health will continue to monitor the lakes and take weekly water samples to test toxin levels. Additional information about algae blooms and current advisories can be found at https://clark.wa.gov/public-health/public-beaches.
