A Clark County man is being held without bail until he can have his mental competency evaluated after he was arrested late Wednesday in the stabbing death of his sister at their Orchards home.

Dwayne Robinson, 34, appeared Thursday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree murder. He is scheduled for a hearing Monday to enter an order to be evaluated. According to a jail screening, Robinson said he suffers from depression.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded at 11:34 p.m. Wednesday to reports of a homicide at 7512 N.E. 123rd Court. A man reported to 911 that his ex-wife’s brother had stabbed her to death, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The man told deputies he came to the house to check on his former wife, Diane Robinson. Her brother, Dwayne Robinson, met him at the garage door. He said Dwayne Robinson told him he wasn’t welcome at the house. He said when he asked Dwayne Robinson where his sister was, Dwayne Robinson replied that he killed her by stabbing her, court records state.

Deputies surrounded the house and used a loud speaker to order Dwayne Robinson out of the house. He immediately surrendered, and deputies went inside. They found Diane Robinson in the kitchen, covered by a blanket. Paramedics declared her dead at 11:57 p.m., according to the affidavit.

Deputies said she suffered injuries to her torso, but they couldn’t tell the cause, court records state.

During an interview with investigators, Dwayne Robinson said his sister had been poisoning him for years, and it was causing him to be depressed. He said he could no longer tolerate being poisoned, so for the past week he’d been thinking about killing her. He said he armed himself with a hunting-style knife and stabbed his sister four times while she was in the kitchen eating. He said he covered her with a blanket and then ate her food because it wasn’t poisoned, according to the affidavit.
