The La Center School District and teachers union are back at the bargaining table this morning, and plan to meet as much as possible over the weekend to avoid delaying the start of the school year on Wednesday. Read story

After the district refused to walk down a hallway lined with teachers to meet with the union’s bargaining committee in a conference room, the teachers walked down the hall and filed through the room where the district was waiting at La Center High School this morning. After the teachers filed through the room, the bargaining team entered and began the bargaining session with the district. The union voted 75-1 on Thursday to go on strike if a new deal isn’t reached by the first day of school on Aug. 28.
