A brush fire on a logged-off hillside burned about a dozen acres near Larch Mountain in east Clark County on Friday night and Saturday.

The fire, first reported at about 7:30 p.m. Friday, is burning on a steep area on Jackson Pass, according to Clark County Fire District 3. The fire, pushed down-slope by 10 mph winds, had spread to three-quarters of an acre when fire crews arrived.

Crews worked to keep the fire from spreading too rapidly into scattered logging slash. As of Saturday evening, the Washington Department of Natural Resources reported, crews were mopping up about a quarter-acre area.

East County Fire and Rescue, Clark County Fire District 13, Clark County Fire District 3 and the DNR responded.

The cause is under investigation.
