Weather Eye: Parade will march to tune of mostly sunny skies

You know, it never fails: It seems like each year when the Hazel Dell Parade of Bands walks the streets of Hazel Dell, fair weather abounds.

Going back as far as I have been keeping records here in Clark County, you can count on one hand the number of times moisture has fallen from the skies. So with that in mind, we are once again looking at a perfect day Saturday for the parade and for the sidewalk spectators. Oh, what will it be like when things kick off at 10 a.m.? How about mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s and a bit on the humid side?

We have really struggled to get some warm weather so far this spring. The warmest day as of Wednesday was a 74-degree high on April 18. Normally by now, we would have at least been in the mid to upper 70s, with even a few 80-degree-plus days. But all in all, it seems to me like a pleasant spring, but then again, I love weather-watching, and we’ve had a bundle of that, especially in April.

Of course, I have to wreck things and chat about next week for a few moments. As I mentioned here earlier this week, the upcoming week looks like unsettled weather and showery periods with snow once again in the mountains. Maybe a scattered thunderstorm and hail bringing back memories of the blustery month of April.

Wednesday was kind of funny, weatherwise, with low clouds accompanying the overnight low temperatures and high clouds courting with the afternoon high temperatures. Actually, a weak weather system moved through without depositing any rainfall at all.

OK, what is the forecast for the Fourth of July? How about mostly sunny skies with scattered clouds and highs around 80 degrees. Pin that one on your fridge. Enjoy the sunshine and warm weather now.
