Division III Franklin rolls past Valparaiso 42-7

FRANKLIN, Ind. (AP) — Kyle Ray threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score as Franklin defeated higher-division Valparaiso 42-7 Saturday.

Ray was 27 for 36 for 382 yards and had three of his TD passes in the first half, including two to Mitch Deffner. Matt Zmich finished with 131 yards on six catches, and Kyle Linville added 82 receiving yards and a TD for the Grizzlies (1-1).

Eddie Morelli scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter for the for the Crusaders (0-2).

Division III Franklin outgained Valparaiso, a FCS school, 568-209 and held the Crusaders to 26 rushing yards.

The Grizzlies took a 7-0 lead on Reece Craig’s 16-yard TD run 46 seconds into the game, and they led the rest of the way.
