Benjamin King wins road race

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Benjamin King won the USA Cycling Professional Road Race Championship on Sunday to become the youngest winner in the 25-year history of the event.

The 21-year-old rider from North Garden, Va., the first winner under the age of 23 in the 110-mile race, finished in 4 hours, 44 minutes, 56.9 seconds for the Trek-Livestrong team.

Alex Candelario of Reno, Nev., was second in 4:46:30.9, followed by Kiel Reijnen in 4:46:31.0.

Hometown favorite George Hincapie, last year’s national champion was fifth, and Tour de France stage winner Levi Leipheimer finished 20th.
