The Vancouver Housing Authority has donated a plot of land to Evergreen Habitat for Humanity and will transfer the title Wednesday.

The title transfer ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m. at the property, 1027 W. 39th St.

The single-home building site was purchased by the VHA in partnership with the city using a neighborhood stabilization grant from Vancouver. The grant is part of a federal stimulus fund program developed to address foreclosures.

“We at VHA are very happy to participate in a process that resulted in a donation of land to Habitat for Humanity,” said Roy Johnson, executive director of the VHA.

And, the recipients were happy to get it because “Evergreen Habitat will build out its land base this year,” said Kristina Aitchison, executive director of Evergreen Habitat for Humanity.

Since 1991, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity has worked to improve living conditions for low-income Clark County residents. The nonprofit organization works in partnership with people in need to develop communities by building safe, affordable housing.

Homes are sold at no profit with a zero-percent interest-rate mortgage after the partner families complete their sweat equity hours.
