LONDON (AP) — David Beckham is waiting for the Los Angeles Galaxy to approve a loan move to a European club, with Tottenham already keen to sign the former England captain.

The Major League Soccer club said two weeks ago that Beckham wouldn’t be allowed to go to Europe during the offseason and expected him back at the end of the month.

However, Beckham’s management company said Monday that “at the moment we are waiting on the decision of LA Galaxy with regards to a loan move. The loan would be a short one until the start of the MLS season” in March.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has said he would like to sign the midfielder.

The Galaxy’s reluctance comes after Beckham injured an Achilles’ tendon last March while playing for AC Milan.
