Burks, Colorado down Western New Mexico 92-70

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Alec Burks scored 20 points, Cory Higgins had 18 and Colorado beat Western New Mexico 92-70 on Wednesday night.

T.J. Riley scored 20 points and Chad Carter 18 for the Mustangs (5-10).

Western New Mexico took an 8-2 lead, prompting Colorado coach Tad Boyle to pull his starters just 2:01 into the game. The Mustangs quickly pushed the lead to 16-4 on two 3-pointers from Ryan Crane.

But five straight layups by the Buffaloes (11-4) sparked a 17-2 run that gave them a 30-24 lead with 6:23 left.

The Mustangs got within six early in the second half, but Colorado went on an 11-0 run to make it 57-40 with 14:29 left.
