Sheriff’s deputies very early today converged in Hazel Dell after a robber struck at a convenience store near Northeast 99th Street and Highway 99.

The call came in at 12:34 a.m. today, first as a robbery alarm and seconds later when the clerk called 911, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Police were told a male left on foot with some cash. He had something covering his face and had implied he had a weapon, though none was seen.

Sheriff’s deputies took positions around the area and quickly deployed a K-9 team.
