Lovely Lil wins the Big A’s Go For Wand Handicap

NEW YORK (AP) — Lovely Lil, a 15-1 shot, beat even-money favorite All Due Respect by 114 lengths Friday to win the $150,000 Go For Wand Handicap at Aqueduct.

This was the second Big A stakes victory in two days for trainer Mike Hushion following Sunrise Smarty’s win in the Fall Highweight Championship.

Lovely Lil, a 4-year-old ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, has won five of 11 races. The New York-bred ran the mile in 1:36.90 in a race for fillies and mares.

Lovely Lil paid $33.80, $9.90 and $5.90. All Due Respect returned $3 and $2.40. C C’s Pal showed at $3.90, giving trainer Rick Dutrow a 2-3 finish in the race.
